Australian Association for Environmental Education Inc. (AAEE)[ News ] [ Mission ] [ Personnel ] [ Resources ] [ Professional Development ] [ Member Associations ] NewsBeijing 2008 Olympic Games resourcesAn exciting new set of resources has been produced by AFSSSE to support teaching about the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Four units for environment education, history and culture, economics and business, and geography are available now. With the Olympic Games to be held in China in 2008, these resources can be used to build a better understanding of China and promote mutual understanding between Australia and China. The resource includes inquiry-based activities and resources enabling students in the middle years of schooling (Years 7-10) to develop a positive image of China and explore Australia’s relations with China. The project was funded by the Australia-China Council and is available for download here. Benefits of AAEE membershipCurrent members of the Australian Association for Environmental Education have access to three online centres: 1. Contact Centre The Contact Centre provides a forum for exchange between AAEE members, including: the Special Interest Groups; State Chapters; e-lists; and On-line Bulletin Boards. 2. Resource Centre The Resource Centre is a virtual library of resources online. AAEE members can download resources including the 2004 National Conference papers; the 2004 NSW conference papers; education resources; research papers; and a host of other web-resources on various topics. 3. Advocacy Centre The Advocacy Centre is a library and forum on environmental education issues in Australia. AAEE members can see AAEE's position papers, letters to government, and have their say on a range of issues through the bulletin board. A membership form can be downloaded here. PersonnelAAEE has an Executive and Council that makes decisions, plans and acts for the organisation. The constitution provides for a roving Executive usually residing in one of Australia’s states or territories for a period of 2-3 years. The Council broadens the decision making by ensuring that there are representatives from across the nation as Chapter or Affiliate Delegates as well as representation from other functions of the organisation, for example the editors of the Australian Journal of Environmental Education, the newsletter, and conference convenor. It is an international refereed journal which publishes papers and reports on all aspects of environmental education.
